Automatic audio updates

When I'm using the Nike+ system, I've always pressed the button to get status updates, but I thought if I just let it run, it would give me updates on its own.

I went for a 6-mile run last night, never hit the button, and never heard an automatic update.

I set the run up as a "Basic" workout, do you have to set the thing up for a certain distance in order to get the automatic updates to work? The audio options seem to offer "female", "male", and "off". I have mine set to "female".

Or did I just dream this automatic update thing up on my own?

Re: Automatic audio updates

Yeah, if you do a basic workout you won't get any automatic updates. I was wondering the same thing a week ago.

I know that if you do a "distance" workout it gives you automatic updates every mile and then counts you down with 400 meters to go.

I haven't tried a "time" or "calorie" workout, but I imagine it will work similar to the distance workouts.

The automatic updates are nice. Sometimes I find myself too concerned with checking my pace manually that I'm not as focused on my run. The technology is great and I love it, but it occasionally can be a distraction. The automatic updates help alleviate that problem for me.
